โBehold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the worldโ (John 1:29).
From the beginning of His ministry, Jesus was identified as the sacrifice who would carry our sins.
ISAIAH’S PROPHECY
Isaiah prophesiedโฆย โThe Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all,โ and โHe bare the sin of manyโ (Isaiah 53:6, 12)
The apostle Peter confirms this, saying that Christ:
โBore our sins in his own body on the treeโ (1 Pet. 2:24)
Think about thatโJesus didnโt just carry your sins on His body but in His body. The sinless Son of God became sin for us:ย
โFor he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in himโ (2 Cor. 5:21)
“When Jesus was nailed to the cross, your sins were nailed there too” (Col. 2:14)
JESUS GAVE EVERYTHING
He was beaten, mocked, and crucifiedโtaking the full penalty for every sin. When Jesus gave up His spirit (Mark 15:37) and was buried, your sins were buried with Him. But three days later, God raised Him from the dead in glory, leaving your sins dissolved and destroyed forever.
The Bible tells us that โChrist our Passover lamb is sacrificed for us.โ (1 Cor. 5:7) In the feast of the Passover in the Bible, after they roasted the sacrificial, spotless lamb, God commanded the Jews to eat all of it.
The Lord emphatically told themโฆ
โAnd ye shall let nothing of it remain until morning; and that which remain until morning ye shall burn with fire.โ (Exodus 12:10)
In the same way, Christโs dead earthly body, that was filled with our sin, is no more!ย ย
So the Lord can promise us:
โI will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no moreโ (Jeremiah 31:34)ย
โAs far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from usโ (Psalm 103:12)
Where are your sins? ย They are utterly and completely gone! Jesus, our Passover Lamb.
